무제의 ‘듣는 소설 시리즈’는 시각 장애인 독자를 위한 오디오북을 먼저 발간하고 종이책을 이어서 펴내는 독특한 기획의 시리즈입니다. 다른 책들이 시각 장애인‘도’ 읽을 수 있었다면 듣는 소설은 비시각 장애인‘도’ 읽을 수 있도록 만드는 것이 목표입니다. 

김금희 작가의 신작 『첫 여름, 완주』가 그 ‘듣는 소설 시리즈’의 첫 권으로서, <완주:기록:01> 전시의 바탕을 이룹니다. 전시장 안에서 관객들은 오로지 청각에 의지해 소설을 듣게 됩니다. 잉크가 아닌 소리로써 만나는 소설을 통해 우리는 의미 있는 간접 경험을 제공하고자 합니다. 

『첫 여름, 완주』는 낙담한 마음과 상처를 안고 완주 마을에 도착한 손열매가 사람들 사이의 “호혜적 사랑”과 다시 세상으로 나설 용기를 되찾는 뭉클한 이야기로, 사람의 슬픔도 온기도 사려 깊게 그려 내는 김금희 작가의 필치가 빛나는 작품입니다.

짧지만 소중한 경험을 안고 가시길 바라겠습니다. 찾아와주신 모든 분들의 발걸음이 이 프로젝트가 지속되는 데 있어 큰 응원이 될 것입니다.

The ‘The Audio Story Series’ by Muze is a unique project that begins by releasing audiobooks for visually impaired readers, followed by print editions. While most books are made accessible also to the visually impaired, the goal of this series is to create books that are also accessible to the non-visually impaired – reversing the usual order of

inclusion.

Kim Keum-hee’s new work, 『My First Summer, Wanju』, is the initial volume of the ‘The Audio Story Series’ and forms the foundation of the exhibition <Wanju:Record: 01>. Inside the space, visitors rely solely on their sense of hearing to experience the novel. By encountering the story not through ink but through sound, we hope to offer a meaningful and immersive indirect experience.

『My First Summer, Wanju』 tells the bittersweet story of Son Yeol-mae, who arrives in the village of Wanju burdened by heartbreaks and emotional wounds. Through the ‘reciprocal love’ shared among the people she meets, she gradually gains the courage to face the world again. It is a work of delicacy by author Kim Keumhee, who shines in portraying both sorrow and warmth with deep sensivity.
